BIOGRAPHY

Michael Maloney is an appraiser of 20th and 21st century art and is qualified to appraise all original works of art created since 1900, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, photographs, prints and new media.

Since 1997, Michael has appraised works of art for:

INSURANCE PURPOSES
CHARITABLE DONATIONS
ESTATE PLANNING
EQUITABLE DISTRIBUTION OF PROPERTY
LOSS OF VALUE DUE TO DAMAGE

Our services have been used by private collectors, family foundations and trusts, museums, institutions and insurance companies to determine the value of important works of art from modern and contemporary master paintings to prints, photographs and contemporary art installations.

Michael possesses in-depth knowledge of the art market and extensive experience valuing works of art in all price ranges. In determining the most accurate appraised value of any given artwork, Michael Maloney not only reviews auction records but also consults with the art dealers and gallerists most familiar with the artist’s work. Michael has long standing relationships with art dealers throughout the United States and the international art trade, which provide access to private sales information that is often vital criteria for valuation.

Our appraisals are unique to the industry, with each work of art represented by a photograph and all pertinent information relating to the item; artist name, title, medium, size and notations of signature locations, as well as provenance (the history of ownership), any exhibition history and a current fair market value, one item per page (five to a page for large estates). In the end, the appraisal functions very much like a catalogue of the client’s art collection.
